Last weekend, Mills Peak was the perfect way to close out our mountain bike season. After a full season of racing, riding, and bringing our community together across Northern California, it was pretty hard to imagine a better way to finish things off than in the Lost Sierra.

From Exchequer, to Nevada City, to Marin, and finally Mills Peak, we got to spend the season riding in some of our favorite places with some of our favorite people.

Welcome to the Shoreline Shredder, hosted by @huckracing at César Chávez Park in Berkeley.

Before it became one of the Bay Area's favorite waterfront parks, this 90-acre piece of land was the City of Berkeley's landfill. From 1961 to 1983, the city filled it with garbage.

So naturally, we thought: Why not kick off our BASP season there?

On September 20th, we'll be bringing BASP back to Berkeley, where you will be asking yourself some important questions:

Is this cyclocross?
Is this short-track gravel?
Is this radioactive waste or dog poop on my tires?

The answer is yes.

All jokes aside, Shoreline Shredder has everything that makes Bay Area cyclocross so great: rolling grassy hills, sketchy dirt tracks, and epic views of the San Francisco skyline.

It's the perfect way to kick off BASP's 2026 season.

And just like that, the 2026 Mountain Bike Season comes to an end!

Last weekend at Mills Peak, we wrapped up the 2026 Bear Race Series and Bear Gromduro Series after an incredible season of racing across Northern California.

From the rocky terrain of Exchequer, to the endless flow of Nevada City, the coastal views of Marin, and finally the high mountains of Mills Peak, this season took us through some of the best riding and most beautiful places our region has to offer.

And best of all, we created a place for the mountain bike community together!

A huge THANK YOU to every racer who showed up, lined up at the start, chased podiums, battled for series points, or simply came out to ride bikes and have a good time. You are what makes these events special.

And of course, none of this happens without the people behind the scenes.

Thank you to staff, volunteers, and everyone else who put in the hours to make these races happen. You helped us create a season that not only provided a place for people to ride some great trails but also provided a place where some of our best memories are made.

And thank you to our sponsors: Bay Cycles Co, Jakroo, Appearl, Fox Suspension, PNW Components, Tour of Nevada City for believing in us and helping us make the dream come true.

This year was also a huge milestone for the Bear Gromduro Series.

We had our biggest turnout of young riders yet, and watching the next generation of racers show up, race hard, cheer each other on, and have an absolute blast has been one of the highlights of our season. Big shout out to @baycyclesco for believing in the future and giving them opportunities to grow within the sport.

This was the first year of the Bear Gromduro Series and it is just getting started.

Some big plans are in the works for next year and we can’t wait to see where the series takes us.

Saturday brings the Mills Peak Off-Road, followed by the Mills Peak Downhill on Sunday, where riders will get their chance to send it down one of our favorite trails in the Lost Sierra.

It’s also the final opportunity to earn points toward the overall series standings. When racing wraps up, we’ll crown our Bear Race Series and Bear Gromduro Series champions, hand out the overall trophies and winner jerseys, and celebrate the end of the season together.

One final weekend. Two races. One really, really fun mountain.

We're heading up to the Lost Sierra for a little pre-race riding, and everyone is invited to join us!

Come out and ride Mills Peak with Bear Race Events, get familiar with the trails, meet some other riders, and enjoy a day of riding in one of our favorite places in Northern California.

We'll meet at Mill Pond at 10:00 AM and figure out shuttles from there. Nothing too complicated. Show up with your bike, riding gear, and a willingness to squeeze into whatever shuttle situation we come up with.

With perfect weather, endless dirt roads, epic singletrack, and ocean views around every corner, it was hard to imagine a better day to ride bikes in the Marin Headlands.

From the first riders rolling out of Rodeo Beach to the final finishers making their way up Hawk Hill, the energy all day was incredible. Whether you were racing for a podium spot, challenging yourself on a new distance, or simply out to enjoy one of the most scenic rides in California, it was awesome to see so many riders out enjoying the trails.

Every year we find ourselves coming back to the Lost Sierra, and every year we're reminded why. Whatever it is, there's something special about this place.

Mills Peak has become one of our favorite weekends of the year because it brings together everything we love about mountain biking. Big views, fast trails, great people, and a mountain town that welcomes riders with open arms.

Whether you're tackling the Off-Road course, pinning it in the Downhill race, or making a full weekend out of it with friends and family, Mills Peak is the perfect way to close out the season.

The Marin Overland Kicks Off This Saturuday at Rodeo Beach!

We’re rolling out at 9:00 AM this Saturday from the stunning Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands, just north of San Francisco. Known for its colorful, pebbly sand—red and green chert, jasper, carnelian, and agate—this surf-and-trail hotspot is the perfect launch point for an epic day on the bike.

All routes finish with a mountain-top summit at Hawk Hill, with you can enjoy views overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, cheer in your friends, then enjoy the downhill roll back to Rodeo Beach.

We’ll wrap it all up with post-event meals, recovery drinks from Skratch Labs and an awards ceremony right on the beach!

In just a few days we'll be heading back to the Marin Headlands for what was our #1 rated event of 2025, and everything is shaping up for an incredible day on the bike.

We also have some exciting news. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area has approved a new section of course for this year's event, allowing riders to climb over Peak 1041 and experience even more of the incredible terrain and views that make the Marin Headlands so special.

There is still time to register, but make sure you sign up by Wednesday evening if you want to receive a post-race meal at the finish line.

We're also looking for a few more volunteers to help make the event happen. Volunteers receive free food, a free race entry to a future Bear Race Events event, and get a front-row seat to all the action.

A fast 2,000-foot descent drops riders all the way back toward the ocean before reconnecting with the original 20 Mile Route and heading toward the final push up Hawk Hill.

This route is built for riders who want the full Marin experience. Big adventure, huge views, flowing dirt, cliffside riding above the Pacific, and enough unforgettable moments to make you want to come back and do it all over again.

Yesterday we highlighted the 10 Mile Route. Today, we’re taking things a little farther out into the Marin Headlands with the 20 Mile/Sport Route.

This course delivers everything that makes Marin Off-Road special. Coastal views, winding dirt roads, fast descents, and some of the best scenery you can find on a bike ride anywhere in California.

After leaving Rodeo Beach, riders head deeper into the Headlands, rolling along the coastline before dropping into Muir Beach and weaving through the hills above the Pacific Ocean. Several sections of the route ride right along the cliffs overlooking the ocean, with nonstop views that make it hard to remember you’re in the middle of a race.

The course mixes wide-open fire roads with stretches of flowing singletrack, including the always-fun Miwok Trail into Tennessee Valley.

On June 6th, we head back to the Marin Headlands for what was our #1 rated event of last season, and we can’t wait to show everyone why this ride has become a favorite.

Over the next week, we’ll be breaking down each course option, from beginner-friendly routes all the way to the full suffering experience for the pros.

First up: the Beginner / 10 Mile Route.

Now before you see “10 miles” and think this is going to be a casual beach cruise… think again.

This route may be the shortest course of the day, but it still packs in 3 major climbs with more than 200 feet of elevation gain per mile.

Short and scenic? Yes.
Is it still going to be a challenge? Yes!

Starting from Rodeo Beach, riders wind through the southern side of the Marin Headlands on a course that is 93% dirt before making the final climb up to Hawk Hill with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and the Pacific Ocean waiting at the top.

And yes, E-Bikes are welcome on this route.
